Workshops on Managing Risks Associated with Sanctions Evasion and Illicit Proliferation Held in Chișinău
On May 28-29, the Center for Strategy and Development (CSD) organized two full-day workshops in Chișinău dedicated to managing risks associated with sanctions evasion, with support from the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR). The first workshop brought together representatives from public sector institutions, while the second engaged private sector participants.
The workshops combined expert presentations, case-based discussions, and scenario exercises. Participants examined sanctions regimes and restrictive measures, regional enforcement challenges, and methods for identifying red flags in transactions.
Special attention was given to Moldova’s regulatory environment, alignment with EU and international sanctions standards, and the practical challenges of compliance within the country’s evolving trade and security context. The high level of engagement demonstrated the relevance of the topic and clear institutional demand for continued engagement.
